Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about chartering with Velvet Yachts in the Aegean.

What is Velvet Yachts?

Velvet Yachts is a luxury yacht charter platform for the Greek Aegean. We curate private crewed yacht charters, on-board experiences, helicopter flights and sea transfers across Mykonos, the Cyclades and the wider Aegean, and bring them together in one charter builder so you can plan a complete charter in one place.

Where can I charter a yacht with Velvet Yachts?

We operate across the Greek Aegean, with bases in Mykonos, Athens, Santorini, Corfu, Rhodes, Chania, Chalkidiki and Parga. From these bases you can reach destinations such as Delos, Rhenia, Paros, Naxos and the smaller Cyclades.

How much does it cost to charter a yacht?

Day charters typically start from around 2,000 to 3,000 euros for a full day on a mid-size motor yacht, and rise with the size and category of the yacht. Every yacht page shows an indicative from day rate. The final price depends on your dates, route and the season, and is confirmed when you book.

How many guests can join a charter?

Most yachts in our fleet carry up to 10 to 12 guests for a day charter, and a smaller number for overnight stays. Each yacht page lists its exact day and overnight guest capacity.

What is included in a yacht charter?

A crewed charter includes the yacht and its professional crew for the period booked. Fuel for your chosen route, on-board experiences, food and drink packages and special requests are added on top and confirmed with you before departure.

Can I add experiences such as a private chef, a DJ or water toys?

Yes. You can add curated experiences such as a private chef, a beach dining set-up, a DJ and sound system, a premium open bar or water toys to any charter. Experiences are priced per booking, and some are priced per guest.

Do you offer helicopter flights and transfers?

Yes. Alongside yachts we arrange private helicopter flights and land or sea transfers, so your arrival, island hops and departure are handled end to end.

How do I book a charter?

Use the charter builder on the site to choose a yacht, route and experiences, then send your selection. We create your reservation and you complete the details and payment on our partner reservation desk. Bookings are operated and invoiced by our partner Easyblue.

When is the best time to charter in the Aegean?

The Aegean charter season runs from late April to October. June and September offer warm seas with lighter crowds, July and August are the liveliest, and the Meltemi wind is strongest in mid-summer, which the captain plans the route around for a comfortable day on the water.

Is a captain or crew included, and do I need a licence?

Our charters are crewed, with a professional captain and crew aboard, so you do not need a sailing licence. You choose the yacht, route and experiences and the crew take care of the rest.

What is your cancellation and payment policy?

Payments, invoicing, cancellations and refunds are handled by our operating partner Easyblue under their terms, which you review on the reservation desk before you confirm your booking.

Can you plan a custom multi-day itinerary?

Yes. You can pick one of our ready routes or we will plan a bespoke multi-day itinerary around your dates, the islands you want to see and the experiences you would like on board.
